I love allotments. Sometimes I just think they’re a nice place to be. Weird but true. There’s something about the work, the people, the space, the ingenuity. A rural honesty.

Our allotments are only 2 minutes from my house. And me and my one year old daughter Cecily love spending time there. Most of these pictures are taken there and are featured on our gardening site: MyGardenSchool

We went at 6.30 am on Saturday morning thinking we’d be the only people there (one of us decided on an early rise!).   But it was an absolute hive of activity!  And the elderly gentleman in the cap - presented me with an enormous bunch of very fragrant sweet peas.  We’d never met before.  How gorgeous.  And very typical of the generosity of spirit found in these little havens of growth.
